TATTOO
We had been living between London and
Holland for about four years, our daughter Petal had just turned one and we had
to decide what we wanted to do. Should we stay in London work for other people
and never have time to be with our baby girl or even each other or do we risk
it all and move back home to Portugal?! We knew it wouldn’t be easy but we
packed up our life in boxes and did it!
In 2013 Vintage Daggers Tattoo was born!
The Tattoo scene in Portugal was still
growing when we arrived back in 2013 and traditional tattoos still weren’t a
popular style, not a good thing for us, although Pedro is a very versatile
tattooer his true passion is traditional American tattoos, and worst of all we
had no client base and opened up shop out side of Lisbon’s city center. In
everyone’s eyes we were crazy! But we
had a plan, we knew we didn’t want a shop like any other we had worked in or
even been in, we wanted something small but with room to grow, a place where we
felt at home and more importantly we wanted our clients to feel at home.
Fast forward almost 5 years and were still
here, our little shop keeps growing nice and slowly, just how we like it, and
Our VDT family has also grown with the addition of our Son River and two new colleagues
Bela and Tiago.
Every day at the shop is an adventure, you
never know who is going to walk through the door, and we really enjoy our
clients and hearing their stories and so many have become friends. Getting a
tattoo is something very personal and special and lots of people only get one
tattoo, something very small, simple but yet full of meaning to them, and
others come every month to add to their collections, some are young, some are
old some have been through a lot and want to have their struggles or victories
marked on them forever, and others walk through the door like a design and
that’s it, I guess what I’m trying to say is that no matter the size or reason
we value every single client even the super fussy ones ;)
Vintage Daggers Tattoo is a small cozy family
run tattoo and piercing studio, located just a short 20 minutes train ride from
Lisbon’s busy city center, in a seaside village called Parede. Although our
shop is small its bursting with creativity and movement, be it our clients,
guest artists or neighbor’s your bound to have a fun time here, and if your
friends getting a tattoo and your bored don’t worry, our kids will keep you
entertained and if they really like you they will most probably give you a sharpie
tattoo as well ;)
